Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made for your particular cosmetic situation by our professional dental laboratory.  They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can give your smile a completely new look. They are often used instead of crowns because they require little or no tooth preparation. They are very natural looking and will last many years, giving you a beautiful, long lasting smile. To see what porcelain veneers look like, click here.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • To create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
  • To straighten crooked teeth.
  • To correct poorly shaped teeth.
  • To correct discolored or stained teeth.
  • To reshape teeth that are too small or large.
  • To fill unwanted or uneven spaces.
  • To rebuild worn or chipped teeth.

What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

As with all cosmetic procedures, the secret to success is in careful planning. A thorough smile analysis, using digital photographs and impressions of your teeth, enables us to show you the final result before we get started.

Once we have arrived at the look you want, actually making the veneers usually requires two visits. At the first visit, the teeth are prepared by reshaping the surface (if necessary) to create a tiny space for the thickness of the veneer.  A mold or impression of the teeth is taken, a shade is chosen, and temporary veneers are placed to allow you to "test drive" your new smile.

On the second visit the temporaries are removed, the teeth are treated with bonding agents, and a resin cement is placed between the tooth and veneer. A special light beam is used to harden the cement.

New types of porcelains and strong bonding agents have made veneers one of the most exciting areas of dentistry. Call us today to see if veneers are right for you.
